ppp - check and notify version 20010430 ======================================= this little tool and config set is quiet usefull for the following environment: - semi-permanent ppp dial-up line, which should be always online - local nameserver - give your temp. ip adress away to another person via sendmail this little configuration and shell scripts allows you to: - check your ppp line every minute, to reconnect if neccessary - "/etc/crontab" entry, where "/etc/ppp/testpppd" is called every minute ! - reconfigure your local nameserver, while substituting both DNS servers fetched by pppd within the /etc/named.conf file (via the skeleton /etc/named.conf-skel - edit this one) - sending one email to the maintainer with the new ip-adress and dns entries, if this email adress is given. /etc: crontab : a demo crontab entry for /etc/ppp/testpppd named.conf-skel : the named.conf skeleton /etc/ppp: ip-down : symb. link -> ip-up ip-up : symb. link -> ip-up.jau ip-up.jau : the magic named.conf and email feature options : the mailto receiver is configured here testpppd : the script which checks pppd GPL License sven goethel http://www.jausoft.com 20010430
